Herméneutique, langage et vérité

Abstract : Various hermeneutical theses in Gadamer and Davidson are compared. The differences between the two approaches are stressed. But both share a view, which I call the priority thesis, according to which language and meaning have in some way to be pre-understood (a version of the hermeneutical circle). The view is wrong.
